Plot Synopsis
A clandestine group of average everyday citizens with amazing abilities operate within the Defense Criminal Investigation Service of the U.S. Department of Defense, and the team is led by Dr. Lee Rosen as they investigate cases that point to others with abilities like theirs. The people who have these very extraordinary abilities known as Alpha Skills are called Alphas. Though not an Alpha himself, preeminent neurologist and psychiatrist Dr. Lee Rosen has a long history of hands-on work with patients suffering from neurological disorders, and his fascination with Alphas has led to the formation of this team for which he has become the unconventional leader. The team consists of: Bill Harken, a former FBI agent who strictly adheres to procedure and protocol, who is a hyperadrenal Alpha capable of summoning the fight-or-flight response to give him super strength and resistance to harm; Cameron Hicks, a former army sniper and minor league baseball player with a sense of distrust of authority, has an unusual condition called hyperkinesis, which allows him to possess flawless aim, perfect balance, and greatly enhanced motor skills; Nina Theroux -- a worldly, sophisticated, attractive, intelligent, complex and manipulative woman -- whose alpha skill is called influencing, which lets her control others by disrupting the specific neural pathways in the cerebral cortex that leave the brain vulnerable to suggestion; Gary Bell, a twentysomething who depends on rigorous routine, is a transducer, making him a human antennae and able to read a wide range of frequencies including television, radio, and cell phone signals; Rachel Pirzad, a pretty and timid twentysomething who was sheltered from society by her protective parents because she is a synesthete, allowing her to enhance one sense while rendering her remaining senses temporarily useless; and Kat, a mysterious young loner, whose Alpha ability is perfect muscle memory, making her a "quick study" but unable to form long-term personal memories. Season 2 picks up eight months after the previous season's stunning season finale with the stage set for an explosive turn of events at the Binghamton facility that could have devastating, far-reaching consequences. Plus, Dr. Lee Rosen, having exposed the existence of Alphas to the unsuspecting public, finds himself discredited and imprisoned by a government desperate to cover up his stunning revelation, causing some of the team to disband and regress to their old, destructive ways without his guidance.
