Plot Synopsis
Set 35 years in the future, ALMOST HUMAN follows two officers, John Kennex and Dorian, at the Los Angeles Police Department, where all cops are partnered with human-like androids. Kennex, emotionally shut down after getting critically injured on a mission, has a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage to replace a leg he lost in the attack, and now he's paired with Dorian, who is part of the LAPD robotics squad designed by the eccentric and underpaid Rudy Lom. Dorian is a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses, but these "flaws" make Kennex relate to this new partner more than any of the standard-edition androids. After all, John is part-machine now, and Dorian is part-human. Kennex is respected by almost everyone on the force, except for Det. Richard Paul, who blames him for the death of fellow officers on an ill-fated mission that cast a pall over the entire department. Trying to recover from that misstep, Maldonado, the ambitious and determined police captain, is willing to make personal and professional sacrifices for the greater good, while uniformed cop Valerie Stahl, with her strong moral compass, typifies the modern-day human cop. ALMOST HUMAN had a special two-night premiere on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 8-9pm ET/PT and Monday, November 18, 2013 from 8-9pm ET/PT on FOX. In the premiere episode, Kennex and Dorian set out on their first mission to solve a crime and protect innocent people from the dangerously evolved criminals in this futuristic landscape. In the second installment, the duo investigatee a murder and high-profile missing persons case that leads them into the highly profitable world of Intimate Robot Companions, also known as sexbots.
