Plot Synopsis
From the executive producers of ALL AMERICAN, ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING is a young adult sports drama set against the backdrop of the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) experience at Bringston University, where Black excellence is a way of life. The series follows Simone (from ALL AMERICAN), a young tennis hopeful from Beverly Hills who is trying to fight her way back to great after some time away from the court, and Damon, an elite baseball player from Chicago who is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. After Simone's aunt Amara Patterson, a journalism teacher and activist, exposes a scandal that threatens to derail the school's beloved baseball program, new coach Marcus Turner is determined to bring a championship back to Bringston the honest way -- with Damon's help. Damon will adjust to his new normal with fellow baseball player and childhood friend JR by his side. Meanwhile, as Simone struggles to find her footing, she will get a little guidance from Thea, the super-competitive queen bee of the Bringston tennis team, and Keisha the school's unofficial mayor, who will help Simone learn how to live her best life. As they contend with the high stakes of college sports, Simone and Damon will also navigate the highs, lows, and sexiness of unsupervised early adulthood at a prestigious HBCU in Atlanta, Georgia.
ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING began as a special episode of ALL AMERICAN, which debuted on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. Michael Schultz directed the episode written by Nkechi Okoro Carroll. Ready to get out of town for a few days, Spencer (Daniel Ezra), Olivia (Samantha Logan), Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) and Simone decide to visit Simone's aunt's Amara's at her HBCU in Atlanta where she is a journalism professor. The group is relishing in campus life, but it also is giving Simone and Olivia a different perspective they weren't expecting. While enjoying herself, Simone has a run in with a star baseball athlete named Damon, who she learns has his own reasons for being on campus. Meanwhile, Amara is on to a big story involving her college and takes a risk that could make her unpopular. ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING had its official series debut on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW.
The sophomore season of ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING premiered on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "We Need A Resolution," after the holiday break, Simone returns to Bringston ready to focus solely on tennis and learns what it's really like to be top six. Damon is faced with a decision he's been putting off since before the holidays. Frustrated with how Cam is treating her, Keisha reverts to her old ways and throws a last-minute New Year's Eve party. Meanwhile, Amara and Coach Marcus try to adjust to their new environments and challenges. After a two-month break, ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING returned with new episodes on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the winter premiere, "Rock the Boat," once again, Simone's world has been rocked leaving her no choice but to stand up for herself with her support system fighting right by her side. Damon is at a personal low, but things get worse when a salacious rumor circulates about him and the baseball team. Keisha's dance trajectory hits a major roadblock leaving everyone to rally around her. JR reflects on his friendship when Cam shows interest in KEK. Meanwhile, Amara struggles with trying to balance being president and being an aunt. Christine Swanson directed the episode written by Cam'ron Moore & Jeffrey David Thomas.
The third and final season of ALL AMERICAN: HOMECOMING debuted on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. Simone deals with the fallout from the romantic choice she made in Season 2, but romantic drama takes a back seat when she finds her tennis ambitions threatened. Her friends rally to support her, particularly Thea, the team's former Queen Bee, now looking to make her mark on the pro-circuit. JR struggles to get his life back on track following his ousting from KEK and the completion of treatment for aplastic anemia. Meanwhile, Coach Marcus deals with unforeseen consequences of his wife's return, Lando forges new links with the friend group and becomes a regular at "family dinner" and Cam, Keisha, and Nate all struggle to balance their romantic relationships with their chosen career pursuits with varying degrees of success.
