TV Tango: When you first took the role of Justin, what did the producers tell you about your character at the start -- without spoiling anything, of course?

Randy Wayne: Before I booked the role, it was just pretty simple -- high schooler, nice guy and golfer. Then, after I booked it, they told me "He's just what we told you before, but there's a lot more to him that you'll soon find out."

They're really slow to release information about the characters. They like to keep it secret. Either that, or they just don't know and they're figuring it out as they go along.

TV Tango: You mentioned golf. What's Justin's (golf) handicap? What's your's?

Randy Wayne: Justin's probably about a one [handicap]. I'm probably a 16 or 17 -- it depends on the course and what clubs I'm hitting.

TV Tango: What about Justin has surprised you the most so far?

Randy Wayne: I think what surprised me most about Justin is that he's such a passionate person. Whatever he's doing, he's passionate about it, and he doesn't give up easy.

TV Tango: What did Justin say in his homecoming speech? The viewers saw you in the background but couldn't hear you.

Randy Wayne: Good question. I basically said that I was surprised and I'm only getting this because of my girlfriend, Laurel Mercer. So thank you, Laurel. Something like that -- basically putting all the praise on her and thanking her for making this happen.

TV Tango: What does Justin see in Laurel?

Randy Wayne: Well, what's not to see in her? She's gorgeous. She's funny, quirky and has a sense of humor. She's really fun.

A lot of people are very serious all the time, and Laurel is the opposite. She's just always goofy and fun. She dances all fun and crazy. She's her own person.

TV Tango: During the mid-season finale, Justin tells Laurel "You've just gotta trust me, Laurel. I'm never going to let anything come between us." Why does Laurel keep trusting Justin?

Randy Wayne: The easy answer is love. I think it's the first person she's been in love with and the first time she's felt this feeling with a boy. So it's hard to deny. It's hard to not trust the one you love.

TV Tango: After the Mercer family photo reveal in the mid-season finale -- and all the allusions to Ted being Justin's father figure -- fans are surmising that Justin is Ted's long-lost son. Any comments?

Randy Wayne: I think it's a little crazy because Justin is dating Ted's daughter and it wouldn't make sense. If that were to be the case, I still think it's weird -- unless Justin knows that that's a fact, then maybe.

I'm definitely not going to give anything up about it, but I would tell them to search their other options.

TV Tango: During the last half of Season 1, will viewers learn more about the bracelet Justin gave to Laurel?

Randy Wayne: Oh, yeah. They'll learn everything pretty quickly. They touch on the big secret with Justin right away -- within the first four [episodes in January 2012]. Then, there's the dealing with it and coming to grips with it the rest of the season.

[Once we film], I don't tell anybody. You know, my mom would be in her hair salon like "Well, you know, don't tell anybody but..."

TV Tango: Have you finished filming the rest of Season 1?

Randy Wayne: No, we are starting number five this week [which was the week of December 5 - 9]. Five or six. Maybe we're starting six. These weeks overlap so it's hard to tell where we're at.

TV Tango: You're filming THE LYING GAME in Austin, TX. Since you're on the other side of The Red River Rivalry, what's it like being in Longhorn territory?

Randy Wayne: [Laughs]. That's awesome.

Man, when I got out there, I was not looking forward to it. Well, I was because I heard great things about Austin, and I wasn't because I despise the Longhorns football team. It was a little bittersweet.

I love it down there. Austin is such a great city -- one of my favorite in the country. But burnt orange. There's too much burnt orange down there. 

I get it. Norman [Oklahoma] is the same way. [Randy grew up in Moore, Oklahoma, which is 20 minutes north of Norman, home of the Oklahoma Sooners.] But it's just too orange, and I don't like that color orange.

TV Tango: For the second part of Season 1, are you still officially a recurring character or have you been elevated?

Randy Wayne: Since the beginning I've been a recurring guest star, and I'll be that for the whole season.

TV Tango: What was your very first TV role, no matter how small -- even uncredited?

Randy Wayne: My first TV role was LIVING WITH FRAN, and I had one line -- the last line of the episode. We did a table read and they fired me.

TV Tango: What's the first time you got onscreen?

Randy Wayne: My next job was JACK & BOBBY. I just did a movie with Keri Lynn Pratt, and she was on that show, too.

TV Tango: You most recently worked with the hottest woman in Hollywood, Betty White, when you guest starred on an episode of HOT IN CLEVELAND. What character do you play?

Randy Wayne: I play Mark. He's a blind guy, and he doesn't know what he looks like, of course. So Julie on the show and he start dating, and he thinks she's much younger than she is because she tells him she's 26. He believes her, and that's where the hilarity ensues.

TV Tango: You get to work with Jennifer Love Hewitt as well, right?

Randy Wayne: I did. I get to get a little smooch on with her.

TV Tango: One more TV thing from your past. What was it like working on the Syfy creature feature GHOST TOWN?

Randy Wayne: It was wild. We shot in Bulgaria. That was an adventure on its own. Everything about Bulgaria, including the way the productions are run and accomodations, is just different and not up to the standards of America. I have fun with those kinds of things; so I enjoyed it. It was definitely much different than shooting in the States.

It was fun because you get to shoot guns and you get to make a cool little western movie, and after you're finished with it, you get to see them do all the special effects to it. That makes it worth it. I think it turned out pretty good. I was happy with it.

TV Tango: What was the best part about shooting in Bulgaria?

Randy Wayne: I would say the villages. They have these small little villages that are mid-century. They all have little goats scurrying around. Not many people have cars. They all have their own gardens that they eat out of. They have a cow each that they'll eventually slaughter and eat that. They barter.

TV Tango: Besides THE LYING GAME, what's on your DVR?

Randy Wayne: I only really follow one show, and that's THE BIGGEST LOSER. To see these people who have gotten so out of shape, and then they have to give it one-thousand percent of their being to lose weight -- it's inspiring.

Even though I'm in pretty good shape, I'm inspired by that show. Anytime I see someone that's of normal stature and they won't work out, I think about these people. They're doing it. They're crying. They're losing hundreds of pounds. It's really amazing.

TV Tango: If you could be a contestant on a competition reality series, which show would you choose and why?

Randy Wayne: I actually thought about this a couple of times. I think it would be THE AMAZING RACE. I'd take my girlfriend. I think we'd do great. I have a hard time seeing us lose, but you never know with those shows, man -- you get a Roadblock and next thing you know you're stranded for a long time trying to figure something out. Teamwork is so important.

TV Tango: What's the craziest thing you've seen on THE AMAZING RACE that you'd like to do?

Randy Wayne: I don't watch it that often, but when I see it I enjoy it. I just enjoy the language barrier and all the Roadblocks.

I saw one a couple of weeks ago and they had to do a bodybuilding competition. Like a Mr. Fitness contest in little Speedos. That's crazy. You're asking all these people -- who are not models -- to go up there and get in Speedos and flex. It's hilarious.

A friend of mine did the new FEAR FACTOR. That's show's going to be insane this year. It's going to be so crazy. I would love to do that, but I won't. I wouldn't do that one. No matter what.

TV Tango: Anything you want to say to your fans?

Randy Wayne: I'm very thankful for anyone that calls themself my fan because I never thought I'd have fans as a kid. It's beyond me to have them. I'm thankful. And keep watching because THE LYING GAME will get better and better.
