Plot Synopsis
A bereft social worker abandons her job after her daughter's death. But the tragic case of a young woman whose mother kept her locked in a bedroom for 16 years touches her so deeply that she takes her into her home. The fragile girl soon responds to her new caretaker and a bond develops. Their progress is threatened by the girl's mother, who fights for custody and the right to have her schizophrenic daughter institutionalized.
