Plot Synopsis

In the small town of Convent, Louisiana a housewife, Pat Melancon, discovers that a huge Japanese corporation plans to build a petrochemical plant that would emit five hazardous chemicals into the town's air and water supply. Desperate to take action she enlists the aid of outspoken activist, Emelda West. Together the woman spearhead a grassroots movement to prevent the toxic project. With guts and determination their passion eventually wins out over powerful bureaucratic forces.
