Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Sara Zarr. When in a small Oregon town a cell-phone sex video of 13-year-old Deanna and Tommy, her older brother's best friend, goes viral, her life of carefree innocence is changed forever. Three years later, Deanna is still dealing with the fallout of the video, including being branded the school slut. Her home life is even more troublesome as her father's anger and disappointment over the incident has left him unable to look her in the eye. Ready to move on, she longs to escape a life defined by the mistakes of her past. Desperate for a fresh start she is thrilled to land a summer job at a struggling pizza place owned by Michael, a sympathetic gay man. She soon learns that Tommy already works there. Despite the ever-present video and its repercussion, she is determined to maintain her sense of self and hope for a better future. Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress Kyra Sedgwick makes her directorial debut.
