Plot Synopsis

Happy at college and in her sorority, 21-year-old college student Valerie Vont is desperate for money when she suddenly loses her financial aid. Her sorority sister suggests she could make good money by becoming a surrogate for a couple who cannot have their own child. Shortly thereafter, she meets and bonds with a wealthy young couple, Jameson and Sara Darlington, and agrees to carry their baby. Three months later Valerie is pregnant and the Darlingtons are thrilled, but when they die in a tragic accident before she gives birth, Valerie is uncertain about the future. When their will specifies the baby is to be raised by Sara's sister, Valerie decides to continue with the pregnancy. Jameson's controlling mother, Maureen, is outraged and demands to raise the baby, will or no will. She soon manipulates Valerie into moving into her palatial home until she gives birth. As time passes, Maureen grows more and more desperate and refuses to let Valerie out of her sight. She won't allow her to go to classes, visit her sorority sisters or even see her boyfriend. When her friends become suspicious of Maureen, they attempt to break into the house and rescue Valerie. Unbeknownst to them, Valerie has discovered a dark secret and flees, desperate to protect herself and her unborn child.
