Plot Synopsis
In 1944 at Johns Hopkins Hospital white surgeon Dr. Alfred Blalock and black lab technician Vivien Thomas defy the rules and tradition by teaming up to pioneer new procedures in cardiac surgery to save ''blue babies''. As they are saving lives and inventing a whole new field of medicine, social pressures and racial bigotry threaten to tear them apart.
