Plot Synopsis
Russian nuclear physicist Andrei Sakharov and his devoted wife, Elena, battle against Soviet oppression of human rights. For his courageous support of fellow dissidents he and his family are repeatedly persecuted by the KGB .In 1980 he is arrested and sent into internal exile in the closed city of Gorky. For his heroic actions he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
