Plot Synopsis

After years of study and hard work, Maggie Marks has passed the NY bar and applies for a job at big law firm. After learning that they won't a decision for two weeks, she reluctantly agrees to accompany her best friend, Sarah, on a trip to a picturesque European principality while awaiting the results of her interview. Upon their arrival in Calpurnia, Maggie is nearly run over by a speeding cyclist, who does run over the new hat she just purchased. But when he returns soon after with a brand new hat, she agrees to meet this exceedingly handsome stranger for coffee. What Maggie doesn't know that he is Prince Adrian, who is to be crowned King of Calpurnia in a week's time. In between preparations for his coronation he slips out of the palace to meet up with Maggie and show her around his hometown and she soon learns that he is a royal. He reveals to her his big secret, that he has established and runs a community center for Calpurnia's less fortunate children that nobody knows about except for the children and families they serve. She sees that he is someone special, and before long what began as a spark between them grows into something more. He invites her to the palace to meet his mother, but the other nobility in attendance at the dinner waste no time in letting her know she is not one of them. Adrian, however, will have none of it, and as he and Maggie spend more time together. Sensing that something very real is developing between her son and Maggie, Queen Beatrice, upon learning of Maggie's law firm interview, secretly hatches a devious plan.
When a tabloid publishes an embarrassing photo of her and Adrian kissing, she decides that she needs to put this holiday romance behind her, return to New York, and dig into her new life as a corporate attorney. Brokenhearted, she tells Adrian goodbye and prepares for the return trip. However, when a surprise visitor arrives to speak with her minutes before her departure, Maggie must now make a one of the most important decisions of her life.
