Plot Synopsis
Based on the book by Charlaine Harris and the eighth movie in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries "Aurora Teagarden" Mystery Movie franchise. Both Aurora Teagarden and her mother, Aida, are happy that Poppy Wilson returned to Lawrenceton three months ago; their families were always close and it'll be good for Aurora to have another friend around now that her longtime beau Martin has gone back undercover for the CIA. Poppy's been renting Aidas condo and filming her successful DYI video series that have really taken off and with her upcoming book, Poppy stands to become not only famous but quite wealthy. When Poppy is noticeably absent from Lawrenceton's Hometown Heroes dinner where her boyfriend, Dustin is to be honored, Aurora goes to Poppy's to check on her and discovers her lifeless body on the kitchen floor. The police survey the scene and, as he always does where Aurora and murder are concerned, Det. Arthur Smith cautions her to leave the solving of this crime to the police. Almost immediately, she begins to collect clues and one points to a possible affair between Poppy and her attorney. But the list of possible suspects quickly grows. After calling an emergency meeting of the Real Murders club to help them sort through the evidence, they leave no stone unturned in their unorthodox investigation, much to the annoyance of detective Smith. With all the original suspects still under suspicion and no clear sign as to which is Poppy's killer, Aurora stumbles onto one final clue, one that not only confirms the killer's identity, but which also puts someone close to her in great danger. As she races to confront the killer, one final scene unfolds in which the killer's rage and madness is revealed as their next victim is attacked. The police are called, but she is much closer, so it is up to her to stop the next murder before it happens...but only if she can get there in time.
