Plot Synopsis
In 1999, 25 year-old U.S. Marine Jason Johnson is stationed in Bahrain where he begins a forbidden romance with Meriam Al-Khalifa, a member of the Bahraini royal family who is forbidden to marry outside the Muslim religion. Refusing to end their courtship he gives her a forged military I.D. and together they flee to the States. She is soon taken into custody and he is court-martialed . They elope to Las Vegas while they await a political asylum hearing. She fears for her safety if forced to return to her intolerant homeland.
