Plot Synopsis
In 2007 Los Angeles, the first murder trial of legendary music-producer Phil Spector for the 2003 death of actress Lana Clarkson is fast approaching. Defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden is brought in by lead attorney Bruce Cutler to use her expertise to find reasonable doubt about Spector's guilt. Intrigued by the bizarre Spector, who is out on bail, and the challenges of the case, she decides to continue working with the defense team to take another look at the evidence. Over the course of months working with Spector, their attorney-client relationship is often strained and contentious as she tries to proceed to trial with a man who at times is half-crazed. On trial day, when Spector shows up at the courthouse wearing a huge, over-the-top Afro wig, Kenney Baden realizes she cannot put him on the stand, despite the knowledge that Spector's silence could spell defeat for the defense team and prison for her client.
