Plot Synopsis

Based on the book by Diane Fanning. In 2006 Matthew, a beloved minister and community leader, was mysteriously shot and killed in his home in Selmer, Tennessee. During their investigation, the authorities soon zero in on Mary, Matthew's wife of 10 years, as the crime's prime suspect. A frantic search for Mary and her three daughters ensued. Once they found her on a beach in Alabama, she was charged with murdering her husband in cold blood. During her trial, shocking secrets about her relationship with Matthew were exposed. Mary alleged sexual and psychological abuse and claimed the gun went off by accident. She was eventually found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, serving only about 7 months of her three-year sentence.
