Plot Synopsis
Based on the book ''Our America: Life and Death on the South Side of Chicago'' by LeAlan Jones, Lloyd Newman, David Isay. Two African-American teens living in the ghetto housing projects of Chicago create a series of documentaries for National Public Radio with the help of a dedicated producer. They record the thoughts of family members and friends who live with poverty, violence and drugs and in the process learn about themselves, their neighborhood and the world. They eventually win the prestigious Peabody Award, making them youngest journalist ever to receive this honor.
