Plot Synopsis
Dr. Tess Harper is a thoughtful, super-organized and exceedingly resourceful woman who handles everything that comes her way with a smile. A candidate for a fellowship at Northwestern, she's hoping that her longtime boyfriend Dex will soon pop the question and that he'll be willing to move from Boston to Chicago with her if she gets the fellowship. Ever the understanding girlfriend, Tess lets Dex off the hook when he tells her that he can't attend her best friend, Amber's, wedding in Chicago in favor of a weekend invitation from his boss. Upon arriving in Chicago to serve as maid of honor she is met by Michael, the best man. Mistaking him for her chauffeur, they don't exactly hit it off. Tess quickly learns from Amber that the wedding planner has walked out, the wedding cake is MIA and about a million other potential wedding disasters are waiting to happen. And at every turn, it's Tess to the rescue, with a reluctant Michael appointed to drive her all over the city as she goes about saving the wedding. Michael hates missing out on the golf and hanging out with the other groomsmen but with Tess called upon to put out one fire after another, he is constantly expected to assist her. The day before the wedding ceremony, Michael makes a grand gesture and gives up his spot in a golf foursome to Tess after discovering that one of the other golfers is on the Northwestern committee that will name the next fellow. She realizes he's not so bad after all. In fact, they both realize they misjudged one another and, what's more, there is genuine attraction here. But when Dex shows up unexpectedly and makes a back-handed marriage proposal Tess faces a moment of truth and must decide between the bird in her hand, or take the leap of faith true love requires and let her heart soar.
