Plot Synopsis

The fifth installment of the "Murder, She Baked" TV movies franchise, based on the Hannah Swensen Mystery Series by Joanne Fluke. Eden Lake, Minnesota is buzzing with excitement as local celebrity baker and owner of The Cookie Jar, Hannah Swensen, launches Eden Lake's first-ever televised bake-off bake off with $25,000 and the cover of Chef magazine as first prize. As the semi-finals approach, odd things start happening to the judges: Hannah suffers an accident on her basement stairs that is no accident; Charles Rutledg is poisoned; then replacement judge, high school basketball coach Leonard Bishop, is found dead in the middle of the track field. Soon, detective Mike Kingston, who Hannah is now officially dating, is on the case. It's only natural that Hannah's appetite for crime-solving is piqued by the murder of one of her judges, so it isn't long before she begins her own "unofficial" investigation as Mike pursues the killer. As Hannah and Mike mix business and pleasure, the attraction between them grows. When Hannah and Mike delve deeper into the case the field of suspects widens to include at least one of the baking contestants, and even one of the players on Bishops basketball team. As she usually does, Hannah enlists the help of her sister, Andrea, pal Norman and her brother-in-law Bill. Just as determined to solve this case as Mike, Hannah realizes who murdered Coach Bishop moments before she goes on camera at the live bake-off finals, and the killer is right there in the crowd. Soon, Hannah is in hot pursuit, but before she becomes his next victim it's up to Mike to apprehend the killer.
