Plot Synopsis
Third installment of the "Murder, She Baked" franchise, based on the Hannah Swensen Mystery Series by Joanne Fluke. In the sleepy small town of Eden Lake, Minnesota, baker extraordinaire Hannah Swensen owns The Cookie Jar, a popular bakery where scrumptious treats are prepared and the town's gossip brews. Along with making delicious baked goods, Hannah has an appetite for getting involved in local crime investigations. With her brother-in-law, Deputy Bill Todd, running against gruff lawman Sheriff Grant in a heated sheriff election, an expecting sister ready to deliver, and a scary encounter with a car thief on her mind, she feels her life has reached its boiling point. But things continue to heat up when she discovers the body of Sheriff Grant bludgeoned while holding one of her homemade fudge cupcakes and Bill becomes the prime suspect. Determined to prove his innocence, she sets out to solve the crime and quickly learns that Grant wasn't a well-liked man. Meanwhile, handsome detective Mike Kingston opens a parallel investigation. Stirring up secrets and scandals, Hannah surveys a host of colorful suspects, including disgruntled cops, vindictive wives and a trio of dangerous criminals. Along the way, she finds herself romantically pursued by lovable local dentist Norman Rhodes who's more than eager to help with her investigation and also wonders if she's falling for Mike as she collaborates with him to crack the case. With romance in the air, and Bill eventually cleared as a suspect, she must quickly cook up a recipe for catching the elusive killer.
