Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel "Morning Show Murders" by Al Roker and Dick Lochte. Local restaurateur and TV chef Billie Blessings loves doing her cooking segments on successful morning show "Wake Up West Coast," but she is not looking to fill the vacancy created by the sudden death of one of the showw's co-hosts. But when the show's executive producer drops dead in the middle of his speech to the show's staff, all eyes are on Billie after it is revealed that the man died of cyanide poisoning. The lead investigator on the case is Ian Jackson, who just happens to be Billie's father's former partner on the police force, and a man with whom Billie shares a somewhat complicated history. Ian wants to believe that she had nothing to do with the murder but when her restaurant's chef shows up on security camera footage delivering the very cake that killed the man, he is taken in for questioning. Billie soon enlists the help of a couple of her colleagues from the station to help her look for clues. However, the evidence seems to point more and more to Billie, and now she is going to have to piece together all the details of the murder and identify the killer in order to prove her own innocence. Warned by Jackson not to incriminate herself further by snooping around, she cannot stand by idly, especially as she is certain she is being framed for the murder. But the closer she gets to the truth, the greater the danger in which she finds herself until a final showdown with the killer puts her on the wrong end of a loaded gun.
