Plot Synopsis
A 75 year-old Kansas widower, who is living a life of quiet desperation, gets a letter from an old girlfriend in California whom he hasn't seen in forty years. He has a chance encounter with a free spirited young woman who is driving cross-country and he impulsively decides to tag along. The car is disabled along the way and the odd couple hitchhike west. The adventure filled trip becomes an odyssey of self-discovery for the both of them.
