Plot Synopsis
Based on the play by James Goldman. In 1183 England aging monarch King Henry ll decides it is time to announce his successor at a Christmas celebration. His estranged scheming wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, craves the power that she feels has been denied her and is determined to prevent Henry's plans from coming to fruition. He finds himself surrounded by cunning and ambitious relatives, all bent on seeking personal gain and political rewards at his expense, especially his three plotting sons.
