Plot Synopsis

Virginia housewife and mother, Debbie Smith, is dragged from her idyllic suburban kitchen and raped in the woods behind her home. After six years of paralyzing fear and paranoia that truly tests her marriage, her rapist is finally identified because of a chance DNA test. She is devastated to learn that her attacker had been in jail almost the entire time it took to process his DNA-- because of a nationwide backlog of untested DNA kits. Evolving from victim to advocate she works tirelessly to pass the federal legislation ensuring all usable forensic evidence is processed quickly and efficiently so that sexual predators are brought to justice.
