Plot Synopsis

Ellen Branford is an industrious New York attorney currently considering a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Hayden Croft, a high-powered and ambitious politician. Determined to grant her grandmother's dying request, she travels to the coastal small town of Beacon, Maine, to personally deliver a letter to Chet Cumberfield, a mysterious man from her grandmother's hometown. There, she accidentally falls into the ocean, nearly drowning before being rescued by Roy, a handsome local contractor, who immediately finds himself falling for her. When she tracks down Chet's house, she learns that he is Roy's recently deceased uncle, who her grandmother romantically rejected decades earlier. She also discovers that the letter contains her grandmother's heartfelt apology for abandoning Chet and a declaration of her eternal love for him. Extending her stay in this charming town known for its sprawling blueberry fields, she sets out to uncover her grandmother's past and find closure surrounding her death. She offers Roy legal advice as he struggles to prevent his family's farm from being turned into a subdivision and he helps her gather information about her grandmother's life. She soon finds herself feeling more and more at home in the quaint seaside village and, despite her efforts to stave them off, begins developing romantic feelings for him. But when Hayden surprises her by showing up in town, hoping to return her to Manhattan, the spirited New York attorney must decide where she truly belongs and which life and which romance she's ultimately going to choose.
