Plot Synopsis

In 1935 writer Ernest Hemingway first meets magazine war corespondent Martha Gellhorn and is immediately captivated by her. He soon leaves his wife and begins a passionate love affair and later a tumultuous marriage which eventually ended in divorce, after four years, in 1945. As witness to history, they covered all the great conflicts of their time and became the darlings of the rich and famous, but the war they couldn't survive was the war between themselves.
