Plot Synopsis
Based on the play by Emily Mann. Two black sisters, former teacher Sadie Delany and outspoken retired dentist Bessie Delany, who at ages 103 and 101 respectively, tell their stories to a NY Times reporter. Raised in North Carolina by strong willed parents, the sisters moved to NY city and became pioneers professionally and politically, stubbornly overcoming racial prejudiced and sexist attitudes.
