Plot Synopsis

Based on the book by Charles C. Thompson. In 1989, on the battleship USS Iowa, an explosion in a gunnery turret killed 47 sailors. The Officer in Charge of the turret finds himself in conflict with the ship's captain who believes the Navy's investigation that blamed one of the dead men who they said purposely ignited the explosion because he was depressed over a failed homosexual affair. When the Navy discounted evidence of mechanical and material malfunctions the congress convened an inquiry and found the sailor not responsible for the tragic incident.
