Plot Synopsis

Based on the book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. In 2008, John McCain's presidential campaign is off to a promising start and he needs to select a running mate. His advisers, especially strategist Steve Schmidt, champion Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, believing she can help get McCain elected. Now on the ticket, Palin soon galvanizes many of the right-wing conservatives in the Republican party with her maverick style. But in the end, the polarizing choice of the inexperienced Palin, eventually helped to cost McCain the election.
