Plot Synopsis

When uptight and buttoned-down bookstore owner Mary Cartwright faces the grim reality of her quaint but stagnant Denver store might be closing forever, she reaches out for some PR help to turn things around. At the same time, the handsomely wild and flashy Denver Royals hockey star Adam Clayborn is suspended by Erica, the current president of the team, for bad behavior on the ice and is subsequently sent to the same PR firm to help fix his reputation. The PR plan is simple: pair him with someone in the community who is well-liked, who will balance him out, get him involved in local activities and do some volunteer work generating some positive press. Mary's bookstore sponsors the local youth hockey team, which Adam begrudgingly coaches. When the two meet the young players on an outdoor ice rink, they quickly find themselves bickering and bantering: he calls her impossible, she calls him intractable and the press takes note; this tack isn't helping either one of them. It's when they both finally learn to work together, and the tension between them begins to thaw, that Adam is compulsorily faced with having to make a difficult choice: help Mary'a bookstore or help his own career. Along the way, they both learn the important lesson that it doesn't matter how many times you fall down, it only matters how many times you get back up again, which opens up two seemingly opposites for much needed change, and unexpected love.
