Plot Synopsis
In 1961 Mississippi, a black teenager, scared by racist bullies as a little boy, learns to channel his anger into non-violent protest. With guidance from a of a soft-spoken civil rights worker he joins the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and battles racism and desegregation on the bloody front lines of the civil rights movement. His participation in organizing voter registrations and protest marches threatens to destroy his relationship with his father.
