Plot Synopsis
In a small town in Louisiana a gifted black high school student risks her social and academic standing when she challenges her school's long tradition of privately funded, yet racially segregated proms. Her courageous efforts soon re-ignite the town's smoldering racial tensions. The teenager gets some unexpected support from a New Orleans journalist who helps her bring her community together at least for one night.
