Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Michael Laimo. Dominated by his unstable, religious zealot mother, Johnny Petrie longs to lead a normal life. On his 18th birthday, he receives a letter from a lawyer saying he has inherited a 125-acre farm in Maine. Confused, he travels to the small town to tell the lawyer it's all a big mistake. He soon learns his birth name is Brian Conroy and he was adopted after his natural family was killed at the hands of his psycho father, the local preacher, who also killed himself. When he finds out that his mother is really his paternal Aunt, feeling betrayed, he decides to move into the old farm house, which has been abandoned for 18 years. However, as he digs into his past, he soon uncovers the horrifying details of his father's questionable teachings and how, as a baby, he survived that bloody night years ago. In a frightening revelation, he also discovers that his return has revived decades-old forces trapped in the home that set in motion a violent and gory collision of the dead souls who are hell-bent on destroying him.
