Plot Synopsis
In 1944, a black couple, Minnie and Mac McGhee, buy a house in all-white part of Detroit. When the residents find out that their community's covenant barring black families has been broken, they hire legal counsel to try to force them out. Their next door neighbor, Anna Sipes, befriends the couple and eventually forces her husband to reassess his bigoted position. The case goes to the Supreme Court which finds for the McGhee's, allowing them to keep their house.
