Plot Synopsis

A single father, Owen Powers, joins a family of gold dredgers on the Bering Sea, hoping to earn some fast cash. When they arrive at the untouched mining claim, they begin to pick up pieces of gold on the floor of a cave, disturbing an ancient colony of Sea Vampires. Like a giant squid from hell, the creature lives in the darkness of the cave and after being awakened, devours one of the deckhands. Meanwhile, marine biologist Megan Archer has noticed schools of seals disappearing, being killed, and being drained of blood. They dismiss her as a kook and Glenn, the ship's captain, heads out to fish on the bay. As he sits alone in the boat, something flies from the water and grabs him, causing him to lose consciousness. His sons, Kyle and Cody, find him drifting in the boat and rush him to the hospital, where he begins to contort and spasm until out of his abdomen bursts what appears to be a baby sea vampire. His sons trap the creature and try to find Megan. The other dredgers ignore their warnings and before long, it's clear that there are many of these blood-sucking predators. Using talons like harpoons, they're able to launch themselves out of the water and glide over land, so no one in town is safe. Owen, Kyle, Cody, and Megan must figure out how to kill the sea vampires before they annihilate the entire town.
