Plot Synopsis

After a string of successes, romance novelist Jo Parker is worried she's losing her Cupid's touch. She herself has sworn off relationships, saving her love affairs for the page. But her sales are down and her last book was an unmitigated disaster scorned by critics and readers alike. Her road to redemption just got harder. Her publisher, Diana is not at all happy with her first draft of "SEALed with a Kiss," featuring a hunky Navy SEAL hero. With her career on the line, she unenthusiastically commits herself to the real-world research her publisher has arranged: a deep dive into the SEALs' world under the tutelage of retired SEAL Colin Shaw. Neither Jo nor Colin has made a particularly favorable impression on the other and their collaboration gets off to a rocky start. Her immersion in SEAL life begins at the boot camp Colin runs for SEAL recruits and other future military specialists. Teamed with three focused young recruits, she finds that she is expected to perform the same grueling exercises as them. She soon rises to the physical challenges and makes contributions that reflect who she is, whether giving dating advice or sharing a strategy that helps the team ignore pain and triumph in a tough contest. While she is getting a feel for the SEALs' life, Colin also becomes privy to Jo's world of writing and publishing, which has its own set of demands. As the weeks unfold, writer and sailor develop a mutual respect and perhaps something more. But for two professionals who have committed themselves to very different paths, can art really imitate life?
