Plot Synopsis

The story of the most fabled political family in American history is told in a manner similar to THE GODFATHER -- a manipulative, egocentric father was determined to live out his own ambitions through his sons, who in turn spent their lives dancing to his tune while at the same time trying to stand on their own. Chronicles the public and private joys and tragedies of the Kennedy political dynasty including fraternal rivalries, mob associations, drugs, women and the assassinations of JFK and his brother Bobby. Also profiles the political crises that John F. Kennedy dealt with in the early days of his presidency, including the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis -- which brought the world to the brink of nuclear war -- and the Civil Rights Movement.

*Note: This miniseries was to originally air on History but the channel claimed it wasn't historically accurate enough for its brand. At first the network stood by the project, despite its liberties with some details of the Kennedy family, but apparently got cold feet after pressure was said to be exerted by the Kennedy family and its parent company, A&E (Disney, Hearst and NBC Universal).
