Plot Synopsis

After fleeing Rome as a young man, Julius Caesar returns home and aligns himself with Pompey, the leader of the Popular party. But as years go by, they begin to clash and Caesar, considered a military hero and champion of the people, sets out take power. Refusing the Senate's demands to turn over his troops he soon quells a civil war and becomes the ruler of the Roman Empire. His blind ambition and arrogance against the traditional senate resulted in resentment among his one time allies, ultimately leading to his assassination at the age of 56.
