Plot Synopsis
Based on the book "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bronx is Burning" by Jonathan Mahler. During the summer of 1977 New York City was in the grips of hysteria caused by serial killer "Son of Sam" while also enduring a bitter mayoral race and a citywide blackout in the middle of a scorching summer heat wave. The New York Yankees, with superstar Reggie Jackson and manger Billy Martin locked in a perpetual state of warfare, begin their quest to fulfill team owner George Steinbrenner's promise to the people of New York-- to win the World Series. Just when it looked like New York was down for the count, the city rose from the dead, motivated by Reggie Jackson's three home runs in game six of the series which led to a triumphant win over the LA Dodgers.
