Plot Synopsis
Chronicles the lives of legendary, depression-era gangsters Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, beginning with Clyde's early life on his family's poor dirt farm in Texas, where he and his brother, Buck, started robbing stores and stealing cars. In 1930 he is caught and sent to the brutal Eastham Prison Farm, where another inmate sexually assaults him. Upon his release he hooks up with 20-year-old Bonnie Parker, a lonely married waitress, who dreams of being a famous actress. The pair, along with their gang -- which includes Buck and his wife, Blanche -- begin a crime spree across several states. They soon become national "celebrities" as the public is delighted in their stealing from the hated banks. But as they graduate from petty theft to murder and kidnapping, the Texas police bring in a special agent, retired Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, to capture the gang. Their lives are far from glamorous as they are constantly on the run, living in stolen cars and cheap motels. The spree ends when they are betrayed by a friend and shot dead in a hail of bullets at a police ambush in Louisiana on May 23, 1934. This miniseries was simulcast on History, A&E and Lifetime.
