Plot Synopsis

Dr. Drew Pinsky gives viewers an unflinching look at exactly how the rehab process works and what it feels like for participants -- whether or not you're a celebrity. By showing celebrity patients and their real-life experiences as they undergo an intensive 21-day detoxification and treatment program at a center in the Los Angeles area, Dr. Drew and his trusted staff of counselors humanize the process and show that treatment is a viable way to break the cycle of addiction. For anyone. Dr. Drew brings in additional prominent physicians to help him give the patients supplementary one-on-one care, and he is joined by drug counselor Bob Forrest and resident technician Shelly Sprague, who have each spent years on both sides of the rehab fence. The celebrities for Season 1 are: Brigitte Nielsen, Chyna, Daniel Baldwin, Jeff Conaway, Jessica Sierra, Jaimee Foxworth, Seth "Shifty" Binzer, Mary Carey, and Ricco Rodriguez. Season 2 includes: Jeff Conaway, Gary Busey, Sean Stewart, Amber Smith, Rodney King, Nikki McKibbon, Steven Adler, and Tawny Kitaen. In Season 3, the program follows: Mackenzie Phillips, Heidi Fleiss, Tom Sizemore, Dennis Rodman, Mindy McCready, Lisa D'Amato, Mike Starr, Joey Kovar, and Kari Ann Peniche. Participants for Season 4 are: Jason Davis; Janice Dickinson; Leif Garrett; Jeremy London; Frankie Lons; Eric Roberts; Rachel Uchitel; and Jason Wahler. Season 5 cast includes: Amy Fisher; Dwight Gooden; Jeremy Jackson; Jessica Kiper; Bai Ling; Michael Lohan; and Sean Young. In Season 6, Dr. Drew chose not to work with celebrities; instead, he elected to help patients with whom the VH1 audience could more easily identify, and these people had hardcore addictions ranging from heroin to prescription pills to alcohol.
