Interview: Nicollette Sheridan Goes on a HONEYMOON FOR ONE & Shows Off Her Outdoor Skills in Ireland
Stephanie Holland - August 12, 2011
On the surface, Nicollette Sheridan and Hallmark Channel seem like an unlikely match, but she was a perfect fit for the role of Eve in the new Hallmark Channel Original Movie HONEYMOON FOR ONE. To bring added depth to her character, Sheridan used her equestrian expertise and her nature-loving know-how while drawing on her rarely-seen softer side.
In HONEYMOON FOR ONE, Sheridan is Eve, a woman who discovers right before her wedding that her fiancé is cheating on her. She decides to go on her Irish honeymoon alone and in true TV-movie fashion, nothing goes right during the trip -- but she does meet a nice guy who she begins to fall for.
The role is a change of pace for Sheridan, who has been typecast as the femme fatale. The actress admits it was the softness of the character that excited her. "Part of the allure was what a kind individual Eve was," she said. "Her immersion in her business world and her lack of paying attention to her needs, her sense of self, and her relationship."
The film was shot on location in Ireland, which helped Sheridan get into character. "It was poetry driving through the country roads and going to the most stunning castles, forests and waterfalls," she said.
The scenes where her character rides through the Irish countryside allowed the actress to show off her outdoors skills as an experienced equestrian. Sheridan owns several horses and tries to ride them every day when she's not working. "It really is sort of my peace and serenity when I'm out with the horses and my dog," she said.
She also enjoyed working with her co-star Greg Wise, who plays her love interest, the manager of the castle she stays in. "Greg is an amazing actor and I had a lot of fun," she said. "He's a really lovely fellow, very good natured."

To add to the film's realism, Sheridan performed many of her own stunts. "I like to do my own stunts because when you have a stuntwoman helping you out in that area...and the hair's got to cover, it always looks like it's somebody doing your stunts," Sheridan said.
For director Kevin Connors, his leading lady's prowess with horses made his job much easier. "She was a blessing...the fact that she could ride really helped when she had to do the stunts and look as if she couldn't ride and when she had to fall off," he said.

Despite Sheridan's personal know-how, Eve is not meant to be an experienced rider. Her riding skills proved invaluable in displaying this characteristic. "Knowing how to ride, the sky was the limit. Whatever my master wanted, I would perform," she said.
HONEYMOON FOR ONE premieres Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 9 pm ET/PT.
